Giveaways
Run one, end it early, and reroll when the winner never replies.
People press a button, and when the time is up Arklynn picks winners at random and announces them. The randomness is the whole product, so it is worth knowing that the pick happens when the giveaway ends, from whoever had entered at that moment.
Running one
- 1Run /giveaway start. It asks for the prize, how long, how many winners, and the channel.
- 2Duration is written the short way: 30m, 12h, 3d, 1w. Anything from minutes to weeks.
- 3The message posts with a button and a countdown. Nobody has to react to anything - reaction giveaways lose entries to people who unreact by accident.
- 4When it ends, the winners are announced in the same channel and pinged.
- 5If a winner never replies, /giveaway reroll picks a new one from the same entrants.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/giveaway start | Start one. |
/giveaway end | End it now and pick the winners early. |
/giveaway cancel | Stop it with no winners. For the giveaway you posted by mistake. |
/giveaway reroll | Pick again from the same entrants. |
/giveaway list | What is currently running. |
Up to 100 winners per giveaway, on every server.
Twenty-five winners covers essentially every real giveaway. The higher numbers are for the server running a hundred-key event, not a thing normal use runs into.
From the website
The Giveaways module can start, end, reroll and cancel with buttons, which is easier for a long prize name than typing it into a slash command. The entry button in Discord is the same either way.
