Last.fm
What everybody is listening to, who else likes an artist, and a wall of album covers.
Last.fm keeps a record of everything you play. Link it once and Arklynn can show what you are listening to, what you have played most, and who else in the server has the same taste.
Linking
- 1Make a Last.fm account if you do not have one, and connect it to Spotify, Apple Music or whatever you use. Last.fm calls this scrobbling.
- 2Run /lastfm set with your Last.fm username. Not your email, and not your password - Arklynn never asks for one and never needs one.
- 3Run .fm. If it shows what you are playing, you are done.
- 4Nothing else works until this is done, and every command will tell you so rather than failing quietly.
What you can do
| Command | What it shows |
|---|---|
.fm | What you are playing right now. .np and .nowplaying too. Takes a user, so .fm @someone works. |
/lastfm recent | The last few tracks. |
.fmtop | Your most played artists. .fmalbums and .fmtracks for the other two. |
.fmcollage | A grid of album covers. .fmc and .collage work. |
.whoknows | Who else in this server listens to an artist, ranked. .wk works. The one that starts conversations. |
/lastfm profile | Somebody's listening as a card. |
Collages go up to 10x10, and whoknows checks up to 250 members - on every server.
Cover art
Album covers are somebody else's artwork and occasionally not what you want appearing in a family-friendly channel. /lastfm covers decides what this server does about it.
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
guess | The bot hides a cover behind a spoiler when it looks like it should be. Imperfect by nature - it is looking at a picture. |
always | Every cover behind a spoiler. Predictable, and the right answer for a strict server. |
never | No spoilers. |
Changing this needs Manage Server. It applies to the whole server, including the website board.
The website board
arklynn.xyz/lastfm shows what people are playing, live. Buttons in the bot link to it, scoped to the server you pressed them in, so you land on your own server's board rather than everybody's.
The board refreshes every three minutes for everybody. Faster would run into Last.fm's rate limit for every server at once.
The board is a public page. /lastfm privacy takes you off it - your commands in Discord keep working exactly as before. Which servers you are in is never published, whatever your setting.
/lastfm unset unlinks your account and removes what was stored about you.
