Panels
One embed with buttons that open others - rules, roles, FAQ, all in one message.
A panel is an embed with buttons, and each button opens another embed only the person who pressed it sees. One message instead of eight, and nobody scrolls past the part they needed.
It suits anything that is naturally a set of sections: rules split by topic, an FAQ, a list of roles and what each one is for, a staff directory.
Building one
- 1Run /panel new with a name for yourself, the title people see, and the text of the first embed. The name is how you refer to it later and is never shown.
- 2Add a page with /panel page: the name of the panel, the button label, and the embed that button opens. Repeat for each section.
- 3Post it with /panel post, giving the panel name and a channel.
- 4Press the buttons yourself. Each answer is private to whoever pressed, so your test does not spam the channel.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/panel new | Start one: the embed people see first. |
/panel page | Add a button and the embed behind it. Up to 25. |
/panel post | Send it to a channel. |
/panel list | The panels on this server. |
/panel delete | Remove one. Does not delete messages you already posted. |
The buttons keep working after the bot restarts, and after a year. They carry the panel they belong to, so the message does not need the bot to remember anything about it.
Deleting a panel does not delete the message. The message stays, and its buttons then have nothing to open. Delete the message too.
From the website
The Embed Editor has a Panel mode: the first embed on the left, the pages as a list you add to, and the preview on the right. Easier than one command per page, particularly for a panel with eight of them. Templates at arklynn.xyz/embed/templates give you a starting point.
