VoiceMaster
Temporary voice channels that people run themselves, and presets for the setup you keep rebuilding.
Somebody joins one channel and gets their own, which disappears when the last person leaves. No moderator creates channels for people, and none has to clean up afterwards.
Setting it up
- 1Make a voice channel called something like "Join to create". Nobody stays in it - joining it moves you straight out again into your own.
- 2Optionally make a text channel for the control panel, if you want the buttons as well as the commands.
- 3Run /voice setup with the join channel and the panel channel. The prefix form is .setup_voicemaster.
- 4Join the create channel. You should be moved into a new channel that you own.
- 5Run /voice info to confirm you are the owner.
The new channels are made in the same category as the create channel. Check that category's permissions - a category @everyone cannot see makes channels @everyone cannot see, and the owner will not understand why nobody joins.
What the owner can do
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/voice lock | Nobody new gets in. The people already inside stay. |
/voice unlock | Open again. |
/voice ghost | Hidden from the channel list. Different from locking: locked is visible and shut, ghosted is invisible and open. |
/voice reveal | Visible again. |
/voice rename | Give it a name. |
/voice limit_increase | One more person allowed. |
/voice limit_decrease | One fewer. |
/voice add | Let somebody else control it too. |
/voice remove | Take that back. |
/voice disconnect | Remove somebody from the channel. |
/voice claim | Take it over, if the owner has left. |
/voice info | Who owns it, who can control it, what the limit is. |
/voice activity | Start one of Discord's activities in it. |
Each of these also works as a bare prefix command inside your own channel: .lock, .unlock, .ghost, .rename, .claim and the rest. Shorter, and the point of them is speed.
Presets
Every channel already remembers its own last state for free - lock it, leave, come back, and it is still locked. A preset is for keeping several different setups and switching between them: one for a raid night with a limit of five and locked, one for a public hangout with no limit.
- 1Set the channel up the way you want it: limit, lock, name, ghost.
- 2Run /voice preset save with a name.
- 3Later, in any channel you own, /voice preset load with that name puts it all back.
- 4/voice preset list shows what you have saved, /voice preset delete forgets one.
Up to 25 saved setups per person, and every channel also remembers its own last state.
The prefix form is .vpreset save, .vpreset load, and so on.
From the website
My Voice Channel in the dashboard has the same actions as buttons. It never asks which channel - it works out which one you mean from who is asking, and returns only a channel you own or were let into. Reaching somebody else's is not refused, it is not expressible.
Everything on that page also works in Discord with /voice. Use whichever is closer.
