When something does not work
The five causes, in the order they actually happen.
Almost every report comes down to one of five things. They are in order of how often they are the answer, so work down the list.
1. The role is too low
A bot cannot touch a role above its own, however many permissions it has. Server Settings → Roles, and drag Arklynn above everything it has to manage. This is the answer more often than the other four combined.
2. A channel permission overwrite
The bot has a permission server-wide and it is denied on one channel. Symptom: everything works except in one place. Check that channel's own permissions, not the role's.
3. It was never switched on
Every module is off until somebody sets it up. In the dashboard a module that is running has a green dot next to it; that is the fastest way to see which ones are not.
4. Someone changed the prefix
Mention the bot instead - @Arklynn help. That always works, whatever the prefix has been changed to.
5. A typo in a variable
A variable you spell wrong is left in the message exactly as you typed it. If your welcome message contains {user.nmae}, that is why.
Specific things
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
Level roles missing for old members | Rewards are handed out on level-up. Run /fixroles. |
Stat channels show old numbers | Discord rate-limits channel renames. A few minutes behind is normal. |
Verify button gives an error | The Arklynn role is below the verify role. |
A ticket panel says "not configured" | /setup_ticket has not been run. A category and a support role are both required. |
A scheduled announcement is paused | /schedule list says why. Usually a deleted channel, or the person who made it lost Manage Server. |
Last.fm commands say to link first | /lastfm set with your Last.fm username. |
A moderator got quarantined | They tripped an anti-nuke limit. Whitelist them, then give the roles back. |
The dashboard will not open a server | You need Manage Server on it. |
Still stuck
The support server is linked at arklynn.xyz/support. Bring the command you ran and what came back - a screenshot of both answers most questions before anybody has to ask.
